Music
I like to write, listen to, and play music! I play the piano, euphonium, and trombone. I'm currently a member of the AiM Community Band (Arts in McNairy). If you would like to visit the website I designed for them, you may do so by clicking here. It's rather graphically intense, so it might be a bit slow loading.
Website Design
I realize that this particular item should probably go in the "Skills" section, but I enjoy learning the coding so much that I actually consider it a hobby. I spend a lot of my spare time keeping up with CSS and HTML programming journals of some of the more interesting web tricks I've seen used.
Computer / Peripheral Repair
Throughout the years I've had the opportunity to completely break down and repair many different models of computers and laptops. I've built quite a few computers as well. In addition to computers and laptops I've had a lot of experience replacing faulty parts in printers (fusers, pickup rollers, etc).
Data Organization
I have found that the best way to make sure the job gets done right consecutively is to document the solution. I love nothing more than to be able to program a website from the ground up (with solid code) to aid in finding answers to those rare little problems that might creep up from time to time. And, it's especially helpful for record keeping.
My current employer has several networked printers through the state. Each printer has a DNS name. They also have print nodes/queues setup on an AS400 type system. Because of this there can be multiple levels of information pertaining to one printer. With a website it's much easier to keep these printers organized and the information pertaining to them readily available.
Tutorial Videos
I find that it's quite helpful to also create videos as well. A quick little video to show someone how to do something to fix a minor little glitch in their computer is a great way to get their computer functioning properly more quickly; saving them precious minutes that it might take a computer tech to get to them.
I would consider myself to have a rather exceptional ability to be concise yet descriptive when creating these type videos. I've made several of them for my current employer thus far, and they've been put to good use!
Watched Sports
I really enjoy watching Basketball and Football with my family and friends. It's so exciting to see the Boston Celtics give another team a royal thrashing and getting to hoop and hollar about it with my friends. It's also really fun to sit down with my family and watch the Superbowl with a plate full of Rotel cheese dip, chips, pigs in a blanket, and sausage balls! These are the two main sports I watch. I do like to watch bowling as well though!
Played Sports
Here lately I've grown quite fond of tossing around the Frisbee. I also like to play disc golf. And, hey there's a disc golf course in Pickwick! It would be absolutely great to get a job somewhere close to there. Hint hint! HA! I also like to play other things. I've listed a few of them below.
- Bowling
- Basketball
- Softball
- Golf
- Badminton
- Volleyball
Card Games and Family Time
One night each week the family gets together and we play Rook. Rook is a card game based on four colors. There are many various styles of play, but we mainly play "Red One". In this version of the game you have a red one, a trump ("The Bird"), and each color has a run of numbers from 5-14. 5's count as 5 points, 10's and 14's count as 10 points, "The Bird" counts as 20 points, and the red one counts as 30 points. At-any-rate, each player can bid on the amount of point he/she thinks they can catch. The bid winner can then decide which color will be trumps.
It's all good fun, but I enjoy it the most because it gets us all together. And, I feel that it's extremely important for a family to spend good quality time together.
Electronic Games
I have a particular game that I like to play on the computer more-over any other game I've ever played. And, the name of that game is World of Warcraft. It's a great game, but I cannot explain why I like it so much. Perhaps it's because I get to play it with other people around the world (through the internet). Who knows? I play it sparingly however; as I often have more pressing matters to worry about. I do enjoy a little time to play though.
I play other electronic games, but I find that it's not quite as fun without other people to play with. Lily, my neice plays the Wii with me whenever she comes over! It's great fun! We especially love Super Mario Brothers!
